Movember is here! Join WFLBC and support Men’s Health

WFLBCSkull2MovemberWell, moustache season is almost upon us. This will be my 5th Movember and I have organized a few cool Movember get together’s centred around craft beer. Beer and Men’s Health? Probably not 2 things you would normally hear together but that’s the point! Craft beer is a healthier alternative to mass produced lagers form huge breweries because they’re not full or artificial preservatives and fillers.

Here’s the deal, we’re having 2 events and we’ve formed our very own Movember team that you can join. Our first event will be on Thursday November 7th at Big Ridge Brewing in Surrey. Head Brewer Nick Bolton has a cask of Burt Reynolds Moustache Ale for us (Rodeo Red with butter ripple and rum!) with proceeds going to Movember along with a 50/50 draw run by CAMRA South Fraser. We’re tapping the cask at 5pm, join us!

Event number 2 is at Edith and Arthur in Fleetwood on Thursday November 14th at 6pm. This great little pub is part of the Joseph Richard Group and has craft beers on tap. Of course my favourite thing about E&A is that I can walk there :-). The Canucks take on the Sharks that night and CAMRA will be doing a Movember 50/50 draw as well as spreading the good word about craft beer. Mkae sure you say Hi to Megan from CAMRA South Fraser as she’ll be running this one due to prior commitments for me and my liver.

Movember 2012, join team WFLBC!

Ladies and gentlemen Movember is here. I look forward to this glorious month every year and religiously shave of my trademark chin warmer in favour of a hairy upper lip. This year Movember has expanded from it’s original mandate of raising prostate cancer awareness and is now championing male mental health as well.  Both of these causes are seldom talked about and adding mental health to the Movember agenda is a great move.

So what can you do to help? I’m glad you asked! It’s great to donate money and if you can I would be most appreciative (you can donate HERE) but what I really want is for you to join my team! Team WFLBC is looking to recruit Mo Bro’s and Mo Sista’s to help us raise money. Hit up you friends, your family, even your co workers and people on Facebook you haven’t seen in 20 years. You don’t have to grow a moustache to make a difference, I’ll be doing that on behalf of the team. If you want to grow a Mo please do and post pictures on the team page! Ladies, you are my secret weapon, guys who are afraid to grow a Mo will gladly fork over a few bucks to a awesome woman who supports men’s health!

Knowledge is power, moustache is king. Join my Movember team HERE. We’ll be holding a Movember Cask night fundraiser at Big Ridge Brewing Co. in Surrey on November 22nd. There will be amazing craft beer, great people, fine moustaches and a donation box! I’ll post all the details in the next week or so.

Thanks in advance for your amazing support!!

Movember, fighting prostate cancer with the power of a moustache.

This Movember, the month formerly known as November I’ve decided to donate my face to raising awareness about prostate cancer.  My donation and commitment is the growth of a moustache for the entire month of Movember, which I know will generate conversation, controversy and laughter.

I’m doing this because 4,400 men die of prostate cancer in Canada each year and one in six men will be diagnosed during his lifetime. This is a cause that I feel passionately about and I’m asking you to support my efforts by making a donation to Prostate Cancer Canada.

This year my cousin Kurt and I are stepping it up a notch by not shaving our heads, which have a cul-de-sac appearance, for the entire month leaving us with a sweet horseshoe up top and an even sweeter moustache warming our upper lip.

To help, you can either:

*  Click this link http://ca.movember.com/mospace/31977/ and donate online using your credit card or PayPal account
* Write a cheque payable to Prostate Cancer Canada, referencing my name or Registration Number 31977 and mailing it to: Prostate Cancer Canada, Suite 306 145 Front Street East, Toronto, ON M5A 1E3, Canada.

All donations are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.

For more details on how the funds raised from previous campaigns have been used and the impact Movember is having please visit: http://ca.movemberfoundation.com/research-and-programs.

Thank you in advance for helping me to support men’s health.
